The Behavioral Health Clinic offers evidence-based behavioral health care for children and adults of all neurotypes and mental health needs. Our team of licensed psychologists have decades of expertise in mental health care and behavioral science.

Our Services

Child and Adolescent Therapy
We offer a safe environment for children to learn how to manage strong emotions, cope with anxiety, navigate friendships, and other stressors. Our providers focus on the acquisition, demonstration, and generalization of adaptive alternative skills such as positive thinking. Parents and caregivers are included in developing plans to foster positive behaviors across a variety of settings.

Adult Therapy
Our therapists will meet you where you’re at, supporting you with evidence-based methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy, systematic desensitization, and exposure and response prevention.

Diagnostic Evaluations
Diagnostic evaluations for autism, ADHD, and mental health conditions are available for both children and adults.

Amy Jablonski, PsyD, BCBA-D

Dr. Amy Jablonski, president of The Summit Center, oversees the agency’s clinical and educational programs, ensuring exceptional care and support for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Over the past 26 years, Dr. Jablonski has held multiple leadership roles, including vice president of early intervention and education & behavioral health. She began as an educational consultant and psychologist at Summit Academy, followed by roles as director of the Early Autism Program and director of the Developmental Disabilities Clinic. Dr. Jablonski earned her PsyD from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology and is a licensed psychologist and behavior analyst in New York State.

Throughout her career, Dr. Jablonski has helped develop and implement effective treatment strategies for children with autism. She has collaborated on grant-funded research, co-authored a book on self-help skills, and conducted more than 1,000 autism evaluations.

David Meichenbaum, PhD

Dr. Meichenbaum is a NYS-licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the diagnostic evaluation and treatment of developmental and mental health disorders. He is the clinical director of the Behavioral Health Clinic and the director of community consulting and clinical services at The Summit Center.

Dr. Meichenbaum is a highly sought after consultant for school districts across New York State, offering practical behavioral and educational strategies that support the social, emotional, adaptive, and behavioral development of students with autism spectrum and disruptive behavior disorders. He graduated with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and he completed his clinical internship at Duke University Medical Center.

Leslie Davies, PhD

Dr. Leslie Davies brings nearly 20 years of experience working with children, adults, and families. She earned her master’s in School Counseling and her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University at Buffalo, and her areas of expertise includes trauma-informed care, evidence-based treatment for emotional and behavioral disorders, autism assessment and treatment, ADHD, behavior modification, parent training, family systems, and attachment.

Dr. Davies has partnered with schools, healthcare providers, and community agencies to deliver coordinated, effective care, and she is well-versed in evaluating and supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, including navigating local resources. She takes a person-centered, collaborative approach to therapy, working alongside clients to tailor treatment to their unique needs. Dr. Davies is especially passionate about supporting youth and families, with experience spanning school-based work, crisis intervention, foster care assessment, and parent training programs.

Through her commitment to creating a safe, inclusive space, Dr. Davies ensures that clients and families feel heard, supported, and actively involved. Outside of work, she enjoys painting, making jewelry, listening to music, exercising, and spending time with loved ones and her Pomeranian, Bear.

Emily Watts, PhD

Dr. Emily Watts is a NYS-licensed school psychologist specializing in the identification and support of neurodiverse development in children and adults. She began her career working with families of children with developmental disabilities as a community-based behavioral specialist for several years, then decided to further her professional skills by earning her doctoral degree in School Psychology at Syracuse University in 2024.

In addition to conducting diagnostic evaluations at the Behavioral Health Clinic, Dr. Watts is a school psychologist with a local school district and an adjunct professor at the University at Buffalo teaching graduate students about assessment in the clinical field.

Candace Werder, PhD

Dr. Candace Werder is a NYS-licensed psychologist with specialized expertise in the assessment and treatment of childhood developmental, learning, and behavioral concerns. She earned her PhD in School Psychology from Syracuse University, where she received advanced training in evidence-based assessment and intervention.

Dr. Werder provides comprehensive behavioral consultation and therapy services for children and adolescents, working closely with families and schools to support meaningful, lasting progress. Her work includes conducting social-emotional assessments, psychoeducational evaluations and re-evaluations, and developmental evaluations for preschool- and school-aged children. Dr. Werder is committed to a collaborative, team-based approach to care. She partners with parents, educators, and healthcare providers to ensure that evidence-based practices are consistently applied across settings, helping children build the skills they need to thrive at home, in school, and in the community.

Melissa Bergquist

Dr. Melissa Bergquist is a licensed psychologist in New York State with over 10 years of experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. She earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Health Science, followed by her master’s in Psychology and PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Medaille College. While she primarily works with adults and young adults, she also has experience conducting autism assessments with children.

Dr. Bergquist specializes in supporting individuals experiencing mood disorders, relationship concerns, life transitions, and neurodevelopmental differences, including ADHD and autism. She also has extensive experience in psychological assessment and crisis intervention and has worked with individuals across a range of clinical settings and levels of need. In addition to her clinical work, she teaches at a local college, combining her clinical experience with her passion for education and professional development.

Dr. Bergquist uses a collaborative, person-centered approach and draws from evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, and interpersonal therapy. She works alongside clients to better understand their experiences, identify meaningful goals, and develop practical strategies for creating lasting change. Her goal is to create a supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and able to make meaningful progress toward the life they want.

Outside of work, Dr. Bergquist enjoys spending time outdoors, being near the ocean, being with family and loved ones, and spending time with her dog.
